Kilometer Zero!

After years of dreaming about this adventure, and months of prepping, today is the day. This morning, we’ll load up Coconut, do the final checks on the van, fill up the tank, grab the passports and head south.

This day has been months, even years in the making. Getting here has been quite the rollercoaster. The past few days have been physically and emotionally draining as we’ve had to move out of the house, and take temporary possession of the new condo we bought in downtown Squamish. Even the dog was stressed out.

Today, we start a brand new chapter in the story of our lives. This chapter will find us exploring new lands, work less and live more. We are looking forward to live more simply, consume less, spend less, and take the time to meet new people and discover new cultures.

Leaving the house 2 days ago was pretty hard. It was our home for 8 ½ years, and we had invested so much hard work and money into this house that it was emotionally difficult. On the flip side, the house had gained significant value and it turned to be our ticket to our new found freedom.

We are planning to be back in Squamish late Spring for a few months so we can tweak a few things in our van set up, and also for Laurent to be able to spend some time riding his newly finished motorcycle (after months in the shop).

Then later in the summer we’ll hit the road again and head east or north! We’ll decide later.

Ok, time to load up the van and start this epic adventure 😎
